FAQ

What rent-to-income ratio is considered good?

A common benchmark is around 30% of gross monthly income, though some renters target lower for more breathing room.

Should utilities count in affordability?

Yes, many people compare total monthly housing cost, not just advertised rent, because utilities and recurring fees affect real cash flow.

Does this include prorated rent?

No. This version focuses on standard monthly budgeting and a simple move-in estimate. Prorated rent is not included unless you calculate it separately.

How are roommates handled?

The tool divides total monthly housing cost evenly by the number of people sharing. Uneven splits are not included in this version.
