Quality: Higher values mean larger files and fewer artifacts. Photos usually look good at 70-90.
Transparency: WebP supports alpha, but JPEG input has none; output will be opaque.
Orientation: Some JPEGs rely on EXIF orientation-canvas may ignore it. Use the Rotate control if needed.
Resizing: Set Max width/height to scale down large photos before encoding.
Privacy: Everything happens locally in your browser; images are not uploaded.
Compatibility: Modern browsers support WebP. Older tools may not-keep a JPG fallback if needed.
How output size is chosen
Start with the image's natural dimensions.
Apply rotation if set (which swaps width/height for 90°/270°).
Downscale to fit Max width/height (if provided), preserving aspect ratio.
Encode to WebP with your chosen quality.
