Password Generator – Quick Cheat Sheet

Length drives strength most. 16–24 is solid; 24–32 for high-value secrets.
Character sets: adding uppercase, lowercase, digits, and symbols increases the pool size (N), boosting entropy.
Entropy estimate: bits ≈ len × log2(N). Each bit ≈ doubling brute-force cost.
Require each set guarantees at least one char from every selected set (slightly reduces pure entropy, but improves composition).
Exclude similar removes look-alikes (O/0, l/I/1, S/5, B/8) to reduce transcription errors.
Exclude ambiguous removes characters often problematic in URLs/terminals ({ } [ ] ( ) / \ ' " ` , ; : . < >).
Copy carefully: prefer password managers; avoid storing in plaintext files.
Local-only: generation happens in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues; nothing is uploaded.

Notes & edge cases

If require each set is checked and no repeat is also on, extremely short lengths can fail if the policy is impossible (UI will warn).
Entropy bar is an estimate; real-world strength also depends on policy disclosure and attacker models.
