What is MET? Metabolic Equivalent of Task. 1 MET ≈ resting effort and ~1 kcal/kg/hour.
Formula: kcal/min = (MET x 3.5 x weight_kg) / 200, then multiply by minutes.
Weight: If you enter pounds, the tool converts to kilograms using 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg.
Examples:
Walk 3 mph, 180 lb, 30 min → ~141 kcal
Run 6 mph, 70 kg, 45 min → ~540 kcal
Limitations: METs are population averages. Actual burn varies with fitness, terrain, technique, efficiency, temperature, altitude, etc.
Tip: Increase precision by measuring your body mass accurately and choosing the closest activity intensity.
